How to Measure Your Dog for a Leash or Collar

Measure your dog's neck for a collar
Wrap a soft measuring tape around the base of your dog's neck, where a collar normally sits, and leave room for two fingers to fit comfortably underneath. Compare that measurement to our Slip Collar sizes: Small (11-14 in), Medium (14-17 in), Large (17-20 in), or X-Large (20-23 in).

Pick a leash length for how you'll use it
Shorter leashes (4-6 ft) give you more control on walks or in tight, crowded spaces. A 6 ft length is the most common all-purpose choice. Long lines (10-50 ft) are built for recall training, tracking work, or letting your dog range further while still attached.

When in doubt, size up slightly
A slip-style leash or collar tightens to fit, so it doesn't need to be exact, but a length that's too short limits your dog's movement and one that's too long is harder to manage. If you're between two sizes, the larger option is usually the safer pick.
What is paracord, and how strong is it?
Our leashes and collars are sewn from Paramax cord, a paracord-style rope rated to 1,200 lbs of tensile strength. It's also mildew and rot resistant, so it holds up to regular outdoor use.
How long does it take to get my order?
Every item is handmade after you order, nothing sits pre-made on a shelf. Please allow 3-5 business days for your item to be crafted before it ships. During busy seasons this window may run a little longer. Orders ship within the U.S. via USPS/UPS with tracking, and you'll get a tracking number by email as soon as your label is created.
Is a slip leash safe for my dog?
Slip styles tighten to fit and don't release like a clip does. Never leave your dog unattended while wearing one.
Do you offer bulk or wholesale pricing?
Yes. Order 10-19 leashes and every leash in the order is $1.00 off; order 20 or more and it's $2.00 off each. You can mix styles, lengths, and colors freely, the discount is based on your total leash count and applies automatically at checkout, no code needed.
Can I return or exchange my leash?
Because every item is custom-made for you, we're not able to accept returns for buyer's remorse on custom colors, lengths, or other customizations. If your item arrives damaged or isn't what you ordered, contact us within 14 days of delivery and we'll make it right.
What if my package is lost or arrives damaged?
We keep tracking and delivery confirmation on file for every order. If your package is lost or arrives damaged in transit, let us know as soon as possible so we can help file a claim with the carrier.
Do you ship to Canada or internationally?
This website ships within the U.S. only. If you're in Canada or elsewhere outside the U.S., you can find Chaotic K9 Creations on Etsy instead.
